Things to know before the Himachal trip
- The eastern side of Himachal is not that much tourist friendly when compared to the rest. Roads will be bumpy and dirty. You cannot find any fine dining restaurants or hotels to stay until Kaza.
- The terrain and weather are not that easy for a very sensitive person for go through. Snowfall may be very extreme in the months of December and January. Some may face it difficult to breathe and other altitude sicknesses.
- You will have to trek at most of the places in Himachal. It is advised to carry minimum weight.
- As it is difficult to find food, water, and medicines everywhere it is better to keep some instant food products, drinking water and urgent medicines handy.
- Trekking might be lengthy, so it is advised to take some entertainment with you to keep yourself busy and happy.
- Always remember to carry necessary tools, fuel, and an extra tyre if you commute in your own vehicle. The rocky off roads of Himachal will always give you something to work on your tyres.
How to reach Himachal Pradesh – Once you decide to visit Himachal Pradesh the nearest Airport will be Jubbarhatti Airport in Kullu, Bhuntar Airport in Shimla and Gaggal Airport in Kangra. You can get a cab or bus from the Airports. Semi sleeper buses will be available from Delhi to Manali which will take an overnights ride. It’s better to choose roads, as the routes get more scenic heading north. Trains are available from Delhi to Kalka and toy trains are available from Kalka to Shimla which will offer you the best ride through Himachal’s pine woods.
